Dr. John Welsh
Dr. Welsh is a native of Northern California growing up in Menlo Park on the Peninsula and has lived here his entire life (except for four cold years on the East Coast for Medical School). He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley in 1988 and then received his M.D in 1993 from the Dartmouth-Brown Program in Medicine. Moving back home (and the warmer weather again!), he completed his Internship and then Residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry) at Stanford University Medical Center in 1997 including being Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Welsh then stayed at Stanford for an additional year finishing a one year non-operative spinal pain management Fellowship in 1998 that was focused on adding to his skill set of spinal intervention procedures for complex pain management cases.
A father of three, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids in the great outdoors as well as coaching his kids in everything from baseball to soccer. Being an avid Bay Area sports fan, you will often find him with friends and family enjoying a Cal football game or Giants baseball game on the weekend. Mountain biking and trying to keep up with his wife on challenging hikes in the local mountains are his way of relaxing while keeping his mind and body ready for his busy work schedule!
